autumn color wheel

October 4, 2010 at 3:20 pm (my latest work)

It is finally my favorite time of year! Nothing can compare to the beauty and refreshment of the fall season. I love absolutely everything about it, the sharp bursts of rich color, the cool, crisp air, wearing sweaters, the incredible aroma of fall treats baking in the oven, hot cocoa, yummy evening walks, and perfectly ripened apples. It is my goal to try apple picking this year, as I have not yet had a chance to before. I’m really looking forward to it! In celebration of the beautiful colors of the season I have created some lovely candles, borrowing from autumn’s color wheel- rust, pumpkin, brown, and some other natural tones. Over the next week or so I am going to be listing these new items on my etsy. The first listing has already been posted today! As I post more fall product, I will move the other product into a sale category. So be sure to be checking back every so often to see if the item you want goes on sale so you can grab it at a great price! Below are pictures of some of the candles I’m selling this fall. Enjoy the beauty of this wonderful season God has created!

new candles being sold at flowers forever

September 9, 2010 at 2:33 pm (my latest work)

A couple weeks ago I received an order from a local shop here in Columbia, SC. I was so excited I did a blog post about the shop and promised to post pictures of the candles I would be making as soon as they were ready. Well, the order has been filled, and I am thrilled with the results! Notice the polk-a-dots and stripes are actually inlaid in the base wax color, instead of being situated on top of it. This allows for a smooth finish; a great improvement I think! Visit Flowers Forever in Columbia, SC to snatch up a few for yourself. If you’re interested in viewing more pictures of the candles being sold at Flowers Forever or of the ones I’ve made in the past visit my facebook page and become a fan!

dinnerware revision

September 3, 2010 at 3:52 pm (susanna)

May 25th, 2009 was one of the happiest days of my life, and there is nothing I would change about it. It was on this day that I married my best friend, and we started our life together as husband and wife. Now we live together in an amazing little apartment in a fantastic old house in Columbia, SC. Having had over a year to settle in and see how everything looks all set up, I now realize that trying to register for wedding gifts while attempting to survive the last semester of college was rather . . . well rushed. I love all the items that were purchased for us. I just didn’t do a very good job of matching them. So even though I’ve only been married for 15 months, I’m looking into selling our dinnerware and buying new sets that will better coordinate with the styles I had in mind. The green dinnerware is what we currently have and is extremely fun and stylish, but I am, and ever shall be, in love with yellow. So I am keeping an eye on these amber and white dinnerware sets being sold at World Market. I’d love to mix and match them to make for a more simple look with splashes of color. I’m attempting to sell the dinnerware on ebay for now to see if I can recycle the funds into purchasing the other sets from World Market. Let me know what you think!

baby update!

August 31, 2010 at 4:51 pm (news, susanna)

I have been so looking forward to updating all of you on how my pregnancy is going and how my wonderful baby is growing! I’m 26 weeks along now and only 2 weeks out from my third trimester. For those of you who haven’t heard, we found out that we are going to have a little girl. I can’t believe we’ll be holding our daughter in our arms in only 14 weeks, give or take. Her name is Aletheia Love Hindman. You may be a bit confused about the name we picked out. Aletheia is a very unusual name, but has a beautiful meaning that we hope will characterize our daughter’s life. In Greek, the word for truth is aletheia. At a time in our culture in which truth is very relative, my husband and I pray our daughter will be bold in her proclamation of the truth, but always loving in her expression of it. Truth without love is dangerous, yet a love without truth has no meaning. This is why we paired the two  names, Truth and Love together. Aletheia is now approximately 2 lbs and around 14 inches long. The books are comparing her to an eggplant of all things! She’s come a long way from the size of a raspberry! I can’t wait to meet her. If you’re curious about mommy’s current size, take a look at the picture I posted below 🙂

I want to welcome my sister to etsy as she introduces her creative duct tape styles. We all know that duct tape has a million-and-one uses, but have you ever considered wearing it? Wait until you see the unique duct tape hair clips Charity has come up with. She uses brilliant colors to make the most fun and exciting accessories. They’re perfect for coordinating with a fun party dress. Just for girls you think? Charity also offers duct tape wallets, available in a variety of colors, including camo style. Guys could also request to have a bouquet of duct tape daisies to be made for their special someone. It’s a great way to say “I’m thinking about you.” If you don’t see the color you like on her etsy, just send her a convo and she’ll be happy to work with you. Visit ducttapedaisies now!

kangas’ jewelry design

August 5, 2010 at 4:07 pm (featured items, featured people)

Recently, etsy featured my shop on their front page, and as a result, many new people got a chance to view my work. It’s exciting to watch as the number of views for the featured item skyrocket that day as people browse through your shop. Many who stopped by indicated that they liked my work by “hearting” me. As I was looking through the shops of those who had added me to their list of favorites I came across Christine Kanga. Jewelry is a popular item to handcraft and so there are a number of designers that you can find on etsy seeking to sell their unique creations. Kangas’ jewelry however, strikes you as beautifully designed, well made, and artfully assembled. Her work has a sense of fun with a tone of elegance. Here are few items I found particularly stunning.
